global Bridegroom fast
The Global Bridegroom Fast, or GBF, is a solemn assembly held monthly by believers all over the world, uniting together to seek the Lord's face in prayer and fasting. We unite in the Spirit to pray for revival on a global scale, unity in the Church, and God's heart for Israel. Anyone can join us as we fast and pray, humbling ourselves before the Lord and seeking His heart.Jesus said to His disciples about fasting:"Can the friends of the bridegroom mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them … then they will fast." Matthew 9:15
This fast is called a "Bridegroom" fast based on the Scripture above as Jesus describes the longing His disciples would experience for Him when He was taken from them. We fast focused on growing in intimacy with God, denying ourselves in order to give ourselves to Him and praying His heart. Fasting combined with prayer helps our spirits to be more receptive to the movement of God's Spirit. We set ourselves before the Lord desiring more of His presence, deeper relationship with Him and to grow more like Christ. We pray for God to make the wrong things right in our character, attitudes and lives, as well as in the world while we long for His return."And the Spirit and the Bride say, 'Come!'" Revelation 22:17
